How to Perform Barbell Shoulder Presses E-mail

The Barbell Shoulder Press is a typical weight lifting exercise used to tone and strenthen deltoids and the trapezius.

What you need for Barbell Shoulder Presses

  1. Barbell
  2. Bench
  3. Rack

Barbell Shoulder Press Instructions

  1. Grasp the barbell with both hands, a little wider apart than your shoulders, and rest the bar lightly on your upper chest.
  2. Press the barbell upwards until your arms are fully extended.
  3. Lower the bar back down to your chest at the same speed.
  4. Repeat.

Comments on Barbell Shoulder Press

When doing the Barbell Shoulder Press, make sure to sit close enough to the rack to easily grab the bar, but at enough of a distance that you don't accidentally hit the rack while lifting.
